Education
Kayla Birns received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University in 2002, graduating cum laude and with an award for excellence in language study. Ms. Birns received her Juris Doctor degree from University of California Hastings College of the Law in 2007.
Background
Following Ms. Birns’ graduation from law school, she practiced at international law firms for three years, focusing on commercial litigation. She then practiced for a decade at a California firm, focusing on employment litigation and advising employers on a range of issues. She represented employers in an array of industries, such as higher education and healthcare institutions, public entities, and non-profits.
Ms. Birns has conducted workplace investigations in private, public, and non-profit settings and in a variety of fields, such as entertainment, construction, manufacturing, telecommunications, healthcare, and education. She is a member of the State Bar of California and is an Association of Workplace Investigations Certificate Holder (AWI-CH).
